Default The Improved Guild Wars Interface for GW:EN

This is a suggestion thrown by me on how to greatly improve the interface's many parts for the next expansion Guild Wars: Eye of the North.

General Improvements:
*Allows us to change the colors of any bar, window, etc this can be done through TexMod, and is not technically difficult to do anyways. It would not affect anything, except add more UI options to the players.

Party Window Improvements:
*Let us choose to have it auto resize as a check option.
*Add 25%/50%/etc %'s used by skills as lines in Health Bars. Let players configure which they want thru simple check options. This can already be done thru duct tape and mods, WHY not just add it?
*An armor number next to the Health Bars to monitor the current AL of everyone in your party would be nice, and then have the number turn golden when they are maxed out?

Radar / Map Improvements:
*Unfog any permanent fogged maps like FoW. We can do it for TexMod, the textures exist. Why do unfogged U maps exist if we can't see them? Its not like people can't find maps iout of game now anyways.
*Let us set custom markers that display on the radar, with different colored stars like the Quest Icon, and set names on them thru the M or U maps.

Guild Improvements:
*Let us set custom ranks, and more than just the current 3.
*In the Alliance Window, let us see a dropdown listing of every member they have and if they are offline. Think the current Guild Window only in Alliance.
*Let us have Guild Storage, and set who can use it by custom ranks.

Skill Bar Improvements:
*Use high resolution, high detail skill icons like the one on your site. Compare Life Siphon in-game to the one on Anet's site. VASTLY different, no blurry border and more detail. The low detail ones are bland and way too blurry sometimes. Maybe set an option for these in Graphics?

Trade Improvements:
*This is just a personal thing for me, but maybe when you trade something with someone they can + / - you, a + if you traded them what they wanted, and a - if you scammed them, etc. And people would see your + / -'s in the Trade Window when they trade with you.

Misc. Improvements:
*In the window for where are the skills currently affecting you are, have one for current Block % when you get anything higher than the 0%. They do not add together and some people do not know that. Would be useful.
*Add a Minion Circle near the radar that appears when you have minions under control, these would be squares with a letter inside representing which Minion it is for, and the circle starts at green for 100% HP, and turns slowly red as their health drops.
*In the default UI space where hints appear, you could add a quest log type deal that keeps track of the current progress of collection / kill quests as you do them. IE: if you have a quest to kill 5 Corsairs, nothing is here. Then you kill a Corsair and then in the space this appears:
[Quest Name]
-Corsairs Killed: 1/5
And that disappears after like 5s maybe, and then updates as the quest goes on. You never have to check the Quest Log while on a kill / collect quest again!

Hrm, some of these suggestions are alright but I don't see it being done with the release of GW:EN. Also, a lot of changes in GUI make people confused, such things are better done progressively.

- TexMod breaks te EULA. DO NO USE IT.

- No. People could hid other players. This one is better.
- Not really neccesary, but I'm not against it.
- Why to?

- NO. They work like that. Again, TexMod is no legal.
- Custom markers? Yup. This one is good.

- Ah... not bad, but harder said than done.
- Again, problmes to do that.
- Good one, too, but already suggested, use search.

- Icons are blurry due to screen size and resizing of the skill bar. I resized mine to prevent them from blurring. Alas, those icons lack the round border the game adds to them. I would like to remove those grey round borders to, they are not very attractive.

- Abusable. People could get tagged bad even dealing good trades.

- You can already see the effect cons of the skills giving you Block%, and you already know the max possible: 75%.
- Just making healthbars or icons with healthbars somewhere would be easier and better.
- Eh... some quests already do that... and hitting L is not so hard...

This is exactly what we need! I've always wanted a rating system for trading just like on Ebay so you know who are good traders and who to not trade with due to scamming, etc.

Actually, that is exactly what we don't need. It can be abused too easily. There should be no sort of player ratings in the game at all, ever.

Then don't trade if you don't want to be rated There are people out there who are good traders and for those who aren't, they'll get the negative ratings and have a hard time trying to sell due to their lack of stupidity. It'll be their fault for trying to scam someone or put up bad trades.

I've seen that in forums.

There where user evaluation in the profiles.
If the only single vote you get is one from a dumb idiot that just tag everyone as 'bad', you get bad reputation.
Even if you make the evaluation appear after a certain number of evaluations, scammers can tag as 'bad' those that no not fall in their scams, turning the system against those who it where intended to help.

Players have already tons of warnings about scams in the wiki and many pages and a bit of common sense. Have a bit of faith in them, and do not make the innocent pay for the sins of the sinners.

Popularity contests are one of the things that make cultures rot.

"TexMod breaks te EULA. DO NO USE IT."

You're dumb so I ignored your post.

Let's see we can listen to this random guy, or we could listen to the 4 people at ArenaNet who said you could use it.

TOUGH CHOICE!

:d

Thanks for the comments everyone else!

Well... Anet said 'use it at your own risk'.

Anyways, even if they say so, it can be used to automate one ingame behaviour, and that is still against the rule 22..

When they said you could use it, they meant to change skins, skill icons, etc...

Not to cheat in any way.

Yeah you're just a dummy who has no clue what the program does at all. TexMod is unable to automate any game behavior.

Would like to see allies' energy displaed in the party list as well. Your teams fortitude isnt just a function of their health.
